xpleet, according to Google Adwords, if your keyword phrase is "wireless security", then you have indeed chosen a very competitive keyword phrase, with over a million monthly searches.

Enough has been said about techniques in various posts above. It will take a significant amount of time and link-building efforts to move up in the rankings for this phrase. Best wishes.

Some article sites produce page 1 and 2 results within hours. Link articles - bookmarks - only have to be 50 words on a site I use - you can embed links within that 50 words too. Full articles - their definition is anything over 150 words (can be an excerpt from an existing page you have copyright on) can contain as many links as you like. Full articles do best on Google SERPS. If you have a top ranking article with links to your website on page 1 or 2 it isn't as good as a direct link to your site but it is better than a direct link on page 6 - 6,000 and it will bring relevant traffic

It cost a lot and take too much time. You will not gain it on 1 or 2 months, people pass their lifes making their website into 1st ranks ..

It would help if you have other high PR sites, I reckon you would need about 15/20 links of various PR 5 sites to get anywhere near you want to be, plus all the high PR directories, so its gonna cost you. At the end of the day it doesn't matter how many search results there are if there are site with above PR5 in the top 10 then you are mostly wasting your time if your looking to rank anytime soon.

I'm trying to rank against an ebay page at the moment and its a pain in the backside, its got PR3 and over 1400 backlinks, I'm expecting it to take at least a year before I see any decent results. The more buzz your site has the easier it will be too, so your gonna need some good content for that one and alot of respect...

If your doing it for adsense ads forget it..

I've been trying to reach page 1 of google for the key word chat for over 2 years and still haven't quite done it. Have just recently got to between the #11-#15 area on page 2 and has been like beating my head against the wall trying to push it over the next few spots to page 1. I've got 100's of thousands of pages on an ever changing dynamic site, a good loyal user base that return daily, imo a better and more comprehensive site than the competition with something people searching my keywords want while most of the competition does not, and have pumped a sizable amount of money into link building. I think it's now only a matter of weeks before we push over to page 1 but it's been a long and not so cheap drive to get here. At this point I've got about 25,000 back links indexed in Yahoo site explorer with several pr6-pr7 back links in the mix, many links have been aging for a year or two at this point. If someone out there knows of a magic way to compress what's taken me over 2 years to do down to a few month they darn sure haven't told me yet.

Bottom line imo what it takes to reach page 1 of the serps for a competitive keyword is:
    1. Knowledge & Skill
    2. Something different or better than the competition
    3. Lots of work
    4. Time
    5. And yes some money

Now, here is what I did before attempting to aggressively go after the keyword chat though...
I sat down when I started the site and thought of a handful of keywords I wanted to target using the Google keyword tool to give me an idea of search volume.
I came up with 4 terms I wanted to go after which were free chat rooms, chat rooms, free chat, and chat.
I then started aggressively going after the term free chat rooms first since it was less competitive and easier to obtain quicker. The small amount of traffic I gained from the search engines once on page 1 for that gave me a modest ad revenue I could use to at least cover the cost of hosting and maybe a bit left over. It took me about 6 months I think before I started touching the first page of Google, Yahoo, or at the time MSN/Live (now Bing).
I then went after chat rooms and free chat, once we gained a page 1 rank for those it gave us a bigger boost in ad revenue that I could then turn around and use for link building when going after the main keyword chat. This seemed like the most logical way to build this site with an almost non-existing budget at the beginning and it seems to have worked fairly well up to this point, but it takes lots and lots of time and effort.

If you are already on page 4 for your keyword then I would agree that you're on the right track, but I think you're going to become extremely frustrated if you expect to hit that page 1 in under 2 or 3 months unless you have some deep pockets or some well connected friends. One really big reason doing so in such a short period of time is so unlikely is the fact that the age of your back links play a role on your rank, you get a little boost in the first couple weeks after Google picks up a new back link, but that link gets more valuable as it ages. So if your competition has been online for say 10 years and have several good well aged back links spanning several years it's gonna be tough for a site that's a few months old to over take it, if not close to impossible. Remember back in the wild west days of search engines (a few years ago lol) when the results were full of spam from fly by night sites with nothing but ads on them? One of the ways the search engines prevent that now is by adding weight to age of back links, nowadays you almost never see these crappy spam sites in the first 50 results because of that age factor. It may be unfair to newer sites but the search engines are concerned about the quality of their results for their end user doing the searches and not really too concerned about some guy just starting a new site.

What gets me is every swingin Tom, Dick, and Harry with a no to low content spammy blog on here that just can't understand why they aren't at the top of the serps immediately after they post their first viagra blog lol. Now obviously that's not the case of the OP, but I'm guessing this will relate to one or two of you reading this. In life you get what you put in and you get what you deserve, I'm not sure why so many people think that the internet is any different. The more time, effort, and resources you put into a site the better your results will be.

BTW, doesn't anyone build real innovative sites anymore? I think the internet is going to be nothing but pointless rambling blogs by the year 2012 lol.

It is hard to rank well in google for competitive keywords in a short period of time. Just keep working and be patient. You can start with long tail keywords first. That should be easier to rank well.

It will take time and hard work. Just try to get quality back links form relevant sites.
For backlinks you can try article, SMO and DIR submission.

Do some directory submission with the keyword you want to rank . Submit articles and blogposts with the keyword you want to rank . Finally buy some text links with the same keyword on high PR sites . You Site will Jump in Google SEARP's . Money makes Money . Just invest on link building !

Good thing! The website www.security4wireless.com ranks for the keyword "network wireless security" on the FIRST PAGE on Bing (between 48,600,000 results) and in the SECOND PAGE on Yahoo (between 273,000,000 results) for the same keyword.
    Still waiting for Google :D
I'll keep working for content and backlinks..

your website is nice enough to come in Google rankings. Are you updating your blogs regularly , submit your blog at regular level in blog directories , you can ping your blog also . your website is full of content , try to maintain keyword density but don't do spamming and you can write also some articles and can submit them in external Article directories like Ezine Articles. Use social bookmarking also ,try to create some back links by off page and with in 1-2 months you will get good result really because your keyword is not too competitive.

The challenge isnt to get google to index your pages, the challenge is to rank high for your desired search terms.
As everyone in this post said, getting on the first page of google in few months on competitive keywords is almost impossible.

You should try to be more specific, for example target, "Car Wireless Security" or even more specific "Appartments Wireless security in UK"

I suggest that you should continue building backlinks. That is the only solution to your problem. The higher quality the better.

It's not impossible at all, it just needs a hard work. Take a look at my last post..
In a few weeks, I got on the first page on bing with a keyword that have 48,600,000 results in Bing! And I only have one page indexed there.
    Cheers.

I believe some reputable sites on the net who's ranking on the SERPs was either first or second has spend lots of time for advetising, SEO, and Money. If you can live with that competition over time, then I believe you can make it on top then.
