How to rank for a country

can somebody point me how to rank for different countries?

this is what I know already..

get the country specific domain .co.uk

after this I have no idea

I think he meant how to rank better in SERP, like in google.co.uk?
1. Host your site in UK so you got UK IP address
2. Prioritize getting backlink from UK sites
3. Put UK address, phone or whatever in your site so SE can pick it up
4. Keep working on normal link building, UK or not, link is a link and boost serp
5. Patience.

 

Are you trying to ask how to rank higher in a search in a specific country? if that is the case you can use google webmaster tools to tell google what country you want your site to rank high in. I haven't heard of a similar system in other search engines though. The .co.uk domain definnately helps though.

I'm not sure this really makes you rank better, but it will keep your site from showing in the serps for people with IPs in certain countries. I do this for some of my regionalized sites
