first of all you need to study the keywords they want you to rank in two months. If they are competitive I'm afraid you will be needing more than two months to push them to first page. However, if they are not that competitive then I guess it is possible. To rank a web page in Google within 2 months is not possible but it is quite tough. You need to do link building, focus on on page and other off page activities. But there is no guarantee of ranking..

it totally depends on the kind of keywords you have selected for your website. If keywords are more competitive then you need to put more efforts and resources if keywords are less competitive then it can be achieved in two months...

 

For that you have do proper onpage and off page for your site. onpage covers putting meta keywords, title, description tags on the various pages of your site. after that generate as many quality backlinks from your site by doing article submissions, forums posting and etc.

 

If you want to achieve your goal within 2 months for that link building is very important because simple SEO techniques takes time.
and try for high pr backlinks.

 

well if you want to rank your site along with related keywords at first page of Google than you have to do quality of work, means do off-page activities like directory submission,article submission,PR submission,RSS submission blogging,blog commenting,forum posting in an effective way so that more people come to your site and you also get backlinks to your site.Pay attention to those targeted keywords which your client need to see in first page, and than do constant and quality work against that targeted keywords.

 

Ask them to give you more time, Atleast 3 months is needed to see any drastic change, and the full effect of the seo you do will reflect within 6 months.

 

While every one here has given important points I think that it is very important to go right to the source of the problem - Managers who have no idea, they would not have made this request if they did, Take it on by all means but tell them them that they simply cannot have those kinds of expectations, If you get them to understand this then you can get on with the job. I have been in this predicament before and it never ends well for you if they do not understand this.

It is very much related to how competitive the keywords are. If they are not competitive, you'll rank practically overnight.

For example, take this snippet from your own post — "they want me to rank it on first page within two months". I put that phrase in a Google search and it came up #1. But of course that precise phrase is completely noncompetitive. I use that as an example of the fact that you can rank in just hours or days for keywords that have no competition.

 

It depends on the competition, if the competion is low and you have the keywords you are aiming to rank in the title, description, and meta keywords, as well as in the content, then a few backlinks from some authority article directories should make it possible within 2 months
