How to raise unique visitors from 200/day to 1000/day?

Yes, a huge leap for me and anyone in a similar position but there are infinite number of them out there for whom this is peanuts. I know a guy in my town who gets a steady 10,000 unique visitors a day even through a lean season.

I think I had to target this leap after not doing much to change the lackluster 200-250 odd / day for over a year; this was overdue anyways. You may find it difficult and get additional traffic only in trickles but targeting big is something more encouraging than keeping many small targets. Let's see...

Update so far...
the improvement is not much in terms of additional traffic. But it is satisfying to see the traffic curve steadying slightly. Of the first 12 days, the total unique visits passed 3000 (attachment #1) and overall visitors aggregated a shade less than 5000 (attachment #2). So, it may be an indication that growth is steadying too. My Awstats isn't updating everyday at the moment since the morning of 12th.

First you want targeted traffic. I am working on 3333/daily right now (100K/monthly), I am at 3000+ daily (check signature for all methods i use to get this).

Second, it is on going work, you cannot stop working on it (well make someone on your team as you grow work on it).

You have to focus on the quality content that something related to your theme and must be informative.

There are some other methods also that can increase the unique visitors for you like as -

Craigslist
Press Release Submission and distribution
Affiliate Marketing
Micro Blogging
Classified Ad Posting
Social Networking and Bookmarking

But not leave that just after posting, you have to work regularly on that as increase fans, subscribers, followers and so on.

 

All said and done, everything or anythings succeeds only if god so wishes. My traffic was getting up and up, albeit not as fast as I would like it, but early in the morning yesterday the server crashed and everything is gone in a minute, the unique, high quality content, years of hard work, revenue streams, and 35K responsive user list.

In my case, hard work has only left me with more hard work to do again. Till the time I build some more content around the backlinks I had built all these years, I will be condemned to put up with lots of lost opportunities and 404s.

It doesn't make a difference. You should still have in mind the actions your users will be interested in. I think you are looking for a "one size fits all approach". I don't know how to make that work.

You still need to focus. Each type of visitor wants something else. And don't for get that your site has to make you money. If it doesn't then what you've been doing up to this point (lightly spreading your efforts) will probably work for you in the end.

God never stopped me, of course. But it was the server admin. The backup I took was useless, it ran just like a log of some obscure thing. So, didn't work in the end.
