How to raise unique visitors from 200/day to 1000/day?

If the title created a juicy dream, sorry, I am not teaching methods and tricks here, instead I am seeking ways to do it for my site.

I am trying to increase my unique visitor count from the existing 200-250 odd numbers per day to some 1000 per day.

Before you ask me, here is what I did till now and planning to do shortly
    1. Changed it to blogging platform
    2. rigorously building back links
    3. trying to add more quality content
    4. pinging occasionally (in addition to the auto WP pings)
    5. experimenting with on-site SEO principles
    6. regular posting to twitter and facebook
    7. email marketing

Was unable to pursue social book marking of late but plan to use it shortly.

Here is the result till now.
Traffic graph has been a mini roller coaster and I am still to check the mean line trend as it's too short a time. But overall, not much improvement. Although I know this takes time, I am convinced that there could be some other method I am missing out on. (One is certainly the social book marking). Masters of the game are using really really different methods, may be viral marketing, or may be something else...

So, seeking all that I am not aware of. some good and fast yielding methods. (I am not interested to buy traffic - no ppc or traffic services.)

Want to crack this mystery badly. Want to hear it here. want a discussion. let everyone benefit. Hope you understand.
    Thanks

add link wheel in your list to boost your rankings, and try not to spam your subscriber with your email marketing.

Hmmm... keep making good quality content will be good.
In the past, when i never touch my blog, it only make 5-10 visitors.
But after i develop it for a month, the visitor goes up to 70-120 a day.
I hope after i develop it again i can reach 200/ day, then 1000/day.

I'm sorry if my post doesn't help, i also still look for the best method

Fastest way is to get all your friends and co-workers to go on it. Ask them (or force, either way works :)) to post your site on their Facebook / Twitter pages and get their friends to go on it. If your site has interesting content, you will most likely get traffic boost from it. If they are all one-time visitor...then you may need to re-develop your site

I agree with imperial. Friends/facebook is a good way to get some more eyeballs on your content. You should also try some targeted traffic if you are looking for a quick boost. I juice my blogs with some craigslist traffic every now and then, and my return visits always go up afterwards.

well taking the traffic to that level from your current situation will require a great amount of work..

I can suggest you doing some seo for big keywords or some good long tail keywords if you have better amount of content...this will in the long run raise your daily traffic.

If it's the blog then consider creating a good community around your blog.

instead of writing content go to fiverr.com and PAY $5 for someone to send UNIQUE visitors to your site.

    @ seongpinas316
Not sure but heard Google is penalizing link wheels since six months. I guess, I need wait for someone to confirm this either way.

    @ typhoon
Completely in agreement with you. Work, work and lots more work. Long tail KWs, yes, perhaps, I should stop neglecting them. In my case, they may add up to sending a 100+ unique visitors, who knows!!

    @ imperialDirectory
Looks like it's very practical but I guess, I need to shed some inhibitions I have developed over the home working years.

Yes, there is no doubting that good quality content still wins, and the content is still the king. So, I have a task on my hand.

It now strikes to me, that if we all keep this thread alive, it may help many of them around who are seeking this info. On my part, if I may consider this an experiment of sorts, even though this is not in actual place, I plan to implement all these in a short while and report back here as and when I get to see some result. So, let's see how it develops.

Thanks, so far, all of you.

What kind of traffic are you looking for? And what do you want them to do?

You seem to be all over the place right now. Why don't you decide on what you really want first.

Master a couple of techniques first, then learn new ones.

Right now it looks like you are looking for a quick fix, for no apparent reason.

definitely not the laser targeted type with this. The lightly focused spread of my site should tell that I'm looking at a variety of readers/visitors.

You might also try Craiglist Forums at forums.craigslist.org

Normally with Craigslist, your ads only appear in one category. But your forum posts can appear to thousands (anyone who browses the "all cities" in the forum).

It's a little known and used Craigslist trick, but quite useful for some extra traffic!

I have a few hundred videos & blueprints on various traffic gen tactics in one of my membersites at theprofessionalmarketer.com - if you/anyone would like a free membership then pm me :)

Good quality content is good for views which you want to come back time and time again but to search engine all they really care about are fresh contents. Take forums for example, people on forums usually write 1 or 2 sentence the most and the grammar and spelling are very bad but yet search engine love forums cause they constantly have fresh content. so decide which road you want to choose.

You are right, technically speaking. But to me, they are not two different roads, isn't it?

I think social bookmarking is more effective than email marketing and you should change them together.
