Ive been messing with adsense on and off for a year now and fortunately I'm still ahead! My question is: When creating a new campaign, should I start out bidding high and the keywords just get my CTR up and then gradually decrease? Or am I doing something wrong? I can't seem to get my quality score to "great." I made a landing page for every adgroup and my keywords are very tight. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks DP
bidding high is a good entry point strategy for long term effect. I think to evaluate your QS and LP I need to see it. PM if you would like a more thorough analysis
Bid high enough to be in the top three positions so your CTR becomes high. Your quality score should then be "Great". Then you gradually decrease your CPC everyday.
bidding high does not guarantee a great QS, his CTR still has to be relative to the position historical CTR data of others. It is possible to still get a poor QS with a high bid and a poor text ad
so should i start a new account to start fresh? my first campaigns were disasters, but now i think im starting to get the hang of things
Do you mind sharing the CTR you are achieving? Landing pages are very important to QS but a brilliant landing page won't help if your CTR is too low.
Use Ad Variations to try different text to see which performs better ie: find something that makes the user choose your ad over the others. The result is your ads effectively compete against eachother and you can monitor the results, eventually the better performing ad will be served more often as it will get a higher CTR (and you can reduce CPC). Delete the poorer performing Ad and repeat with new text. That way your ads will be continuosly improving...
run some image/banner ads and see if your CTR gets increased or not. some time a catchy banner gets lots of clicks than text ad.
