How to raise capital for marketing?

    Hello all-

I am looking for ways to raise capital for my new online business that I will be using mostly for marketing and advertising my online store.. I've run through most of the important free things (free directories, recip links, articles, etc). Now, I have compiled a pretty lengthy list of all the paid directories, related websites and even print publications I want to purchase links/ads on.

I don't have very good credit score due to a bankruptcy a year ago, so I am not too keen on getting a high interest personal loan.

What are some other ways to raise $5,000 - $10,000 in start up capital?

I am looking at bizfilings.com to become an LLC, will this help in anyway to secure funds?

    Thanks for any input!

Sounds like you should check out http://www.prosper.com. Im sure the LLC would help, but Im not sure how much. Have you tried family and friends? If you cant convince them to give you some money, can you convince people that dont know you?

Trust me, its sometimes more difficlt raising capital from friends than people who don't know you like venture capital firms.

Take a night job delivering pizza. If you are good and in a decent
neighborhood, you can make $13/hr. after allowing for a $1/hr. gas
    and car charge.

    6 months should do it...25 hrs. 24 weeks 13/hr= $7800

/I've done it before when I was saving. Job is pretty
amusing too. What are they gonna do- fire you? Ohh no!

Taking another job, part-time or night, is an option.

However, if you have any marketable skills that will benefit other online business owners, then you may be able to earn even faster.

For example, can you design web graphics? There is always a market for that online. Or maybe you are a good writer. Web sites are always looking for fresh new content. Really, you do not even have to create the content yourself - just work with someone who can, and you provide the end service of selling the finished product.

Have you considered a joint venture with other online professionals in your field who already have an established web presence?

You may want to consider some of these things in addition to getting another job...

There's an excellent article in the May 2007 edition of Entrepreneur magazine regarding the use of Venture Capital databases to find investors for your company. BuzzLogic credits the Growthink Research database for helping it find investors for its $9.6 million Series A funding round which closed earlier this year.
