Its all about competition, if your customer is going to target a few keywords that are of huge competition, then the idea is, you charge accordingly however we take into account a few things.

    1. site competition
    2. site size (if there is alot of work in it, regardless of competition, you should charge accordingly)
    3. Any other add ons in the package, will you be doing blogs for them, full link building, only little link building etc.......

It depends majorly on competition, and secondly the time span your customers wants to see results in!

If they target locally I generally charge less than when they want to target a widely searched general term.
I believe people are more likely to use a local business than an unknown national business.

Quote first according to what you think the job will cost you. Then add some profit for yourself. If this is one of your first jobs, that's all you'll have to go by and you probably don't have enough reputation to command really high prices. Once you've done a few jobs successfully you can be much more confident in your quotes and charge much higher prices.

I'll prefer to set your hourly rate and then calculate how much hours work is needed and then quote accordingly. Sometimes it will be more costly for clients so again you need to look at what kind of work you are going to do and then set your hourly rate according to that. Hope this helps...

I have basic knowledge of seo .
The problem is I don't know how much I should quote the price when one of my custom ask me the quotation.
    I need the quotation, eg. $3000 or $5000 or $10000 .

Yes, it is my first "job" that is still under negotiation.
So I can't quote a high price to drive off custom.
    I can't quote a low price either .

It all depends on the competitiveness of the industry and the keywords they want you to target, the amount of on site optimization needed, their current ranking situation (if the site is currently banned it would be really expensive to rank them), the work load, the amount of content you'll need to create or will they provide it, the amount of back links they currently have compared to the top 20 competitors, the age of the site, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.

You can't base the price of an SEO service based on only a few things, it is a complex work to rank a website and you have to take into consideration many things. It could go from a couple of hundreds to several thousands.

    hi

the price for an SEO service would depend on many factors such as

    1.competition for the keyword targetted
    2.niche of the website
3.keywords which are being aimed at
    4.age of the website
5.number of backlinks the website has currently
    6.content of the website

but lastly it would depend on how popular a seller you are in the SEO field:cool::cool:

    thanks,
    ankur

Since you are providing seo service, i assume you have already done it over many times
So now you might be aware how much time that keyword can take for getting the ranking that the customer is looking for, see how many dedicated hours of work is required on a daily basis and charge on the basis of man hours that you will have to put in
