A good strategy is to include the targeted keyword at the start and end of the article. Also include the keyword in the title and naturally within the content.

Use either H1 - H6 or <strong> for your title and make sure you anchor your keywords with a link to your website wherever you're writing the article providing you're writing an article on an article submission site. As for on page seo, make sure you have contextual links throughout your page, link to your different keywords from your main one and have them linked as <strong> or H2-H3 tags (you can modify size)

The keywords should flow naturally in the article otherwise it looks spammy.

If "smartphone buying guide" is your target keyword then it needs to appear once in every 100 words in your article. Writing an review on Blackberry Bold though does not seem related to your keyword, unless that Smartphone Buying Guide contains information on how to buy a Blackberry Bold. Most of the time, your target keyword would be what the article is about. For example, my target keyword is losing weight. Then I can write an article about diet plans that help someone lose weight. That will make it easier for me to have my target keyword in the article.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

ezine is a pain, and they hardly accept anything. Use articlegather.com, articlesbase.com or thefreelibrary.com They are much more forgiving and accept much more than ezine.

I think you should get some examples from ezine article, from where you can learn how to use key words in articles.

If its a 500 words article, then 2% density is optimum, which means the keyword needs to come at least thrice in the article. You can spread the keyword even in the article such that it does not seem forced in the article. Its an art and you will learn with time.

You can put your keyword several times on your article. The more you can place them around your article the better but you have to write a lot of content as well where you should maintain a density of below 3 percent.
