well, it depends :). I don't know if you wanna use any 3rd party plugins, but you can go and edit the template by yourself. Where do you want to place the ads? :)

You will find the template files in:

    templates/[your template]/

There you may edit the code as you wish, including adding Adsense js or a banner rotation file.

There will be a installation guide along with the mod. You will most probably have to upload the content of the mod to the plugins directory.

My suggestion will be to put ads manually in your site. For that, you will have to do lot of research.

You should try MyBB instead of phpBB, it is a little bit different, but a lot easier on how to use the plugins in everything. And it is still free just like phpBB. That is what I did.

You simply need to edit your template, either look for overall_header or footer, that can help you put ads on your forums.

MyBB is just as easy to install as that too. What hosting are you using?

I am using bluehost, at the time when I paid for it I had no idea what was really good to look for in hosting. To install phpbb I just go to simple scripts and click install and walah it is there. The problem is not me or 2 other people working with me could figure out how to change templates using phpbb from bluehost. Using phpbb from freeforums.org it used to be easy but we have failed for hours trying to change templates.

things we can not figure out

    how to change banners
    how to insert the ads
how to install templates once downloaded

how to install myphp or mybb or whatever it was that was suggested for being easier

well if you installed MyBB, I could give you the how file to install the adsense ads, which can then be managed through the admin CP. I would suggest searching bluehost on how to get MyBB. Since, it should be where you installed phpBB.

alright thanks Ill check that out, so mybb is easier than phpbb ? phpbb was easy from freefroums.org but its a bit different from bluehost and just a lot harder to change things.

I think MyBB is a lot easier than phpBB and I am just a beginner too. If you click the forum link in my signature you will see my forum. You can go there and I can assist you too. Also, I can get you some good plugins for the ads, which is what I think you want...

I would love my forum to look like that, however I am finding that simple scripts on blue host doesn't offer and easy installation of mybb, so do you know how I would go about installing my bb on a web page ?

I think your forum looks great, closer to what I want ours to look like than any phpbb forums have looked.

How about possibly getting new hosting? Or did you already pay a lot?

not going to lie a year of bluehost hosting was around $100. So I am not going to be getting a new host for a while. I suppose ill look up some guides on how to manually install it.
