How to put a clickable image link in the background?

i have looked online and found some but i can't understand what they are saying. please help me.

 

So what you circled is part of the background and you want it clickable? Can't you just keep it in an image file and position it there?

Exactly not something you'd want to do if you can just create an image out of it. Come to think of it.. you can create a transparent gif file and then overlay it over the background (way too confusing!)

 

yeah that's a good one. but my background has a different color or layers like MSN homepage.

 

yeah i am not asking for clickable background image. i am looking for clickable image in a background. I think i should say clickable icon in the background.
