How to push down SERPS for a website

I have a unique situation. There is a certain blog that is putting up negative comments about a client of mine. Unfortunately, he is in the first page of google for relevant keywords. The stuff he says is pretty stupid but not illegal, so there is no legal way to shut down the blog.

My question is, is it possible to get him off the first page of google?

Yes, simply develop 10 websites that target those key terms, spend years doing SEO, then maybe they will all rank on the first page knocking the site to page 2...until Google changes it's Algo. :D

In all seriousness, no there is nothing you can do about it.

    Agree with 'SearchBliss'
However it's not that simple to accomplish, specially if it's a competitive market ;)

If such a thing was possible, people would have easily scored over their competitors and it would eventually become all messy out there! :(

Instead of trying to shorten someone's line of progress, advise your client to enhance the service quality and the support and thereby increase their own progress line!

Faster way would be offering some money as an incentive to reconsider their opinions...

You can write to google straightaway explaining about the situations and see if anything positive happens. Most probably google won't respond to such queries.

How about claiming "libel" and sending a cease and desist notice? Simply have a lawyer send a libel claim to the website owner and web hosting company claiming that what is being said is untrue and that if not taken down the website owner and hosting company will be sued. Should cost you $300 to $1000 depending on the lawyer.

The website owner may just see it as a scare tactic, but the hosting company should demand it be taken down ASAP or boot the owner off of their web servers.

    What do you think?

If you ignore him and don't provoke him, he will just go away. :) I think that would be the wisest thing to do.
