How to pursue this idea for a product?

I have an idea for a niche which collectively gets about 150,000 searches a month from a bunch of keywords directly related to the niche.

I am confident that an online ebook or similar downloadable product has not been marketed in that niche yet. Before I continue down towards creating a product what research should I be doing?

I have checked forums and noticed that advise is given in posts and blogs and articles are written, so there is indications of advice, feedback and discussion in this area. Also it is a niche which attracts approx' 10,000,000 people towards per year. Each person would spend a minimum of $1200 to fulfil the basics and some the costs can go up $20,000 (per person estimates). The point is that in order to be 'part' of this niche you have to pay it is not something that can be achieved for free i.e. lose weight; therefore it is something that I can offer as a commercial product confidentially knowing that people will pay.

Without giving too much away at this stage some meaty suggestions would be appreciated. I do not mind having a chat with someone offline or PM who has an expertise in affiliate marketing who may be interested in assisting with advise, etc if they wanted to take a lead once the product was created. But I have created plenty of products before since I create Joomla and wordpress extensions, but nothing in the 'IMarketing' style.

I am thinking of an interactive e-learning package since I can confidentially state that I am a qualified 'train the trainer' i.e. I can teach others how to deliver training and am very effective. Today I delivered a training at A Further Education college in the UK called 'You Can Remember', which taught the tools to be able to remember any ten items i.e. shopping list if given to you. It actually can expand to 1000 items (may sell that as an interactive learning package), but the results of the feedback were excellent.

The point I am making is that I can put together something that is beyond an ebook and actually use tools to measure the benefits that people achieve. This goes far beyond the ebook convention
