How to purchase a .EDU domain

I need to purchase a .EDU domain on Godaddy. But I can't check there. Can anybody inform me how to purchase?

even if you are...you'll not be able to buy from GoDaddy.... you have to purchase it from http://net.educause.edu/edudomain/

.edu is a restricted to educational institutions like colleges, universities and any educational related. And i hope you can register it through Network Solutions.

 

I have a networking training institute. Our institute is 15 years old.

only US people can buy domain from net.educause. I am an Indian and not able to buy .edu domain.

Please guide me to buy .edu domain

I do not think that being a registered educational school will get you an .edu. To get an .edu these days, you must be accredited by regional accreditation such as middle states. I went through a university accreditation process while teaching in the USA some years back. The cost of accreditation was well over 100K and was a nightmare for everyone. And just be sure that you have a minimum of 500K in reserves to show financial stability of school.

There are older grand-fathered .edu domain's for sale but you must buy included as corporation and will cost in the xx,xxx ranges. But chances are domain name will not reflect on your own style of branding and you will not be able to change name.

Yes its very difficult to register a .edu domain these days. First of all you have to be a US citizen and then you also need to have those qualifications for registering edu domain.

And you can not register .edu domain with Godaddy or any other normal domain registers.
