How to protect your PDF files from copying...

I have seen a few ebooks in PDF format where you can't copy and paste the text from that ebook. It suppose this would be really useful if you don't want people to copy parts of your ebook.

Anyone know how to do this? I would like to protect the information in my new ebook a bit better.

I know this is possible, but I don't have a clue on how to do this.

    Thanks.

Alot of links point you to paid software, but I think I found one that will help you out for free:

Thanks for that. I found out that you can actually use Openoffice's security settings when you compile it into a pdf to make it uncopyable.

Perfect, thanks for the info :) Another reason I love OpenOffice to add to the list!

I don't think any PDF generating tools would come with a feature to encrypt your documents.

    Thanks,

I find OpenOffice cumbersome to use because I'm really used to MS Office but sometimes it just saves the day for me. :D

Well you can add password to PDF using many utilities available, if you are creating it through MS Office 2007, then you can simply add Password to it, just you add password to an office document.

But I would like to inform you that there are so many websites offering Unlocking service of PDFs or any protected file for free, even if it doesn't work, you have the Option of OCR, Optical character Recognition.

For this purpose choose a font which is not commonly used so that OCR may become difficult and always put password of more than 10 digits.

    Thanks
