To be really honest, you can't do anything. There are some methods (JavaScript) which makes it possible to disable right click and copy pasting on your web pages, but still that can be cracked as well, by disabling JavaScript in any browser or simply they can copy from your source code or by CTRL+A , CTRL+ C and Finally CTRL+V on Notepad or MS Word. So pretty much pointless, as scrapper guys will copy it anyhow.

The best method will be to just keep an eye on those content scrapper guys, and if they copy your content straight away go for DMCA notice to their hosts, and report them in Google webmaster tools.

Last and best option for me would be to setup a warning page on website along with your privacy policy that "You''ll Take strict action against those, who will be found copying your articles" just to scare them (Sounds unusual, but works most of the time).

    Best of luck:)

You could also try code encryption programs. Never used it but I heard they will make your source code unreadable. I wonder if that's allowed by Google AdSense and others though?

I've heard that people sometimes put harmless but incorrect bits of info in their books when first published. So anyone who just copies it will copy the error too. Then the original author has better chances to prove they were merely copying. Maybe with web pages you can just go back and edit them without notice.

How about if you combine Javascript and code encryption?

Also I don't mean to scare you. But has anyone thought that it's possible for the copier to retaliate by "click bombing" the author? How can honest webmasters protect themselves from that?

You can save yourself from Click Bombing, by reporting that issue to google adsense support, as soon as you notice any suspecious activity and they will help you out for sure, and yeah! They just dont blindly ban people. You should know how to protect yourself. :)

Why not set up a Google alert with some of your article titles or key phrases? This will tell you when Google indexes a page that contains that text. You can check out if it's a copy of your article or just a coincidence. You can then take appropriate action against the other website if you need to.
I would never recommend retaliation via Adsense click-bombing. It's infantile and every bit as bad as having your articles nicked.

Yes, I was referring to click-bombing our own ads. See, I heard a story of this poor guy who just got off a relationship. They say his ex clicked his ads to death and he got banned. I don't know if the story is true but it sure got me concerned. Now I don't even tell my own family and friends what my blog and site URLs are!

I just mentioned it so people can be warned of this happening (if they reported to the ISP for example). I would also like to be able to protect myself from click bombing.

Actually, A couple months back Google adsense wasn't protected for Click bombing but now when someone clicks too much on a Google adsense advertisement, Google adsense has a program where it only credits for 3 clicks per
unique visitor, so you can only be credited a maximum of 3 clicks per Unique Visitor, a Unique visitor is considered on a scale of 24 hours, (if i would visit your website now i am a unique visitor because i haven't visited it in the last 24 hours)
