How to properly use long tail keywords

This may sound like a stupid question, but say you have a long tail keyword such as "cheap womens running shoes."

Now when you write an article for your website, do you use that exact term a few times or do you use each word separately in the article? or both?

Well, if you use each word separately, logically this would not be using long-tail keywords but just repeating separate single keywords. But if you keep repeating the same long-tail in an article may lead to stuffed content. This is why SEOs always advise to use variations and permutations of long-tails. For example you can use "cheap women shoes", "cheap women running shoes", "women running shoes", "women shoes for running" etc. (you can choose the long-tail variations after a research with a keyword tool to see which ones have low competition and thus easier to rank). Same goes with the internal links that you may use for the page - they should vary depending on content.

first you have to check proper format of long tail Keywords using tools like Google Keyword planner. Then use it repeatedly in same formats.

try to write an article with 3 steps. 1.introduction, 2. description, 3. conclusion and use keywords in 3 times in these three sections.

To increase your sales, you should be able to create the proper keywords and phrases that can fit naturally on your page and on your actual content. This is one of the best practices of search engine optimization. But when you search for something as specific as long tail keyword, the results will also be more specific. You suddenly get a higher chance of landing at the forefront of the SERPs. You will have lesser competition, and people are more likely to be directed to your website. This will lead to a higher chance of conversion, and that’s good news for your business.

The best method is to go with the exact match structure that you pointed. But to mix you can also go with more and different versions of the keywords. You need to think or try like a searcher is. Go and start using Google Trends is a tool that will help you to see the latest trends and their traffic on Google. I guess this way you can see on which road you are.

You should attempt to rank for the topic, not just the keyword. Use many different variations of the keyword, "cheap womens running shoes" "athletic shoes for women" "womens shoes with good support for running", etc. This may not be the best examples but use the Keyword Planner and your creativity to think of keywords and group them together.

Then in your title tags, use the keyword but also add other filler words to it, like "Where To Find Cheap Women's Running Shoes", and in URL do something like "best jogging shoes for women runners", same thing for metas. Google is getting smarter and can tell what keywords are related. In doing this you can rank for multiple different keywords at once!

Try to find long tail keywords with higher search volume and lower difficulty rating.

There are many tools, and Google's keyword planner is a good start for some basic data. If you want further data and if you want to reveal the difficulty of each keyword that you come across, try using Keyword Revealer.

Two important factors with keywords are the search volume and then the difficulty to rank that keyword. Finding relevant keywords to your business that have higher search volume and lower difficulty rating is the key to success. A tool that will help you find this data is Keyword Revealer
