How to Promote Your Business With Facebook Effectively

There are quite a few different things that you can do to build your business online and using Facebook is just one of them. It really doesn't matter which type of business you are running--as long as you want to find a new way to take on your marketing and exposure, Facebook is a fantastic option. But honestly: how can you use Facebook to help you with your efforts?

Get Started Today: If you’ve been an active Internet user then there’s no chance that you missed Facebook – we all know how the social network grew to its massive size that we see today. But lots of people still haven't begun to use Facebook to build their businesses...how come? It’s only because very few people actually take action, while the others sit and watch. Don't hold back here; you need to start benefitting from the social networking revolution that has grabbed hold of the internet. Become one of the popular users of Facebook and use that to raise yourself up in the business world too. While it isn't the simplest thing in the world, it also isn't the hardest; if you begin taking your actions today, the results will be apparent tomorrow.

Make Frequent Updates: When people join your Facebook fan page, they want to see updates on what you're doing. For this reason, it's important to update your status as often as possible, and be sure to write something informative, though it doesn't have to be long. Also, use your targeted keyword in the status that you update because search engines index pages from Facebook, which is why you should take advantage of it SEO wise. There are many types of updates you can make, so if you feel stuck, just say something that's on your mind or perhaps request their feedback on some issue pertaining to your niche.

You Should Not Sell on Facebook -It's not a good idea to blast your friends on Facebook with offers or pitches. What you want to do is motivate people to visit your blog or website. It's best to send traffic to a page that presells your offers rather than a sales page. You have to treat these people like friends, which means that you have to recommend rather than try too hard to sell them something. Your business will get more out of Facebook if you stick to recommending rather than selling. You can inform people about your website or products, but you have to be subtle about it.

Be Professional: A highly professional profile is a necessity. Don’t post any personal pictures when you’re using the account solely for your business goals. Your profile should be a place that prospects can get a glimpse into what makes you who you are and what your company does. So make sure each and every update that you make is related to your niche, and is professional enough. It’s easy to lose an impression that you made on someone by simply posting something that’s offensive. Communication is Key: Try to always remember that Facebook is an important tool for communication and that means that the methods you use for communication are very important. Whether you're trying to help someone with a problem or just offering your opinions, stay on your toes. The more interaction you have with your niche market on this network, the better things will be for you. This is how you grow your business and build long term and mutually beneficial relationships: being there for your prospects when they need you. Facebook, as we've seen, can be a great tool for promoting your online business. It's not only a social networking website, but it's slowly turning into the "second version" of the Internet. Your competitors are almost certainly using Facebook, so if you don't want to fall behind, you should start taking advantage of it yourself. In conclusion, Facebook is growing every single day and if you want your company to be able to reach the members of your target audience correctly, you need to begin to use the social network to meet those goals. If you haven't yet made use of Facebook for your company yet, you need to start now because the Internet isn't a baby anymore and Facebook is its new identity.

These are good tips but building a good solid friend count can boost up your fanpage likes right away because you can suggest them your page

Great post, I really agree with the "you should not sell" principle. People go on FB to socialize, not to buy things, so a direct marketing approach almost never works. Instead, it's important to build a relationship with your fans so they WANT to buy from you.

I found the best way is to build solid relationships with people. Also, don't send those annoying and useless teleseminar invites because no one will show up. People are tired of always seeing that sort of thing on there.

To build a good page you should also ask questions, make your questions controversial so people can come back to them and see others who have voted. When a fan answers a questions it comes out in there page hence more exposure and someone of their friends just might get curious and check out the question and they will see your page.

I think we want to make a distinction between Facebook profile account - where you should not sell and a Facebook Fan Page where you can promote your business. In either case, the emphasis would be on building relationship, connecting and offering something of value. Hard seeling and salsy pitches will not work here since it is a social medium where people hang out together and chill/chat/ connect

A Facebook fan page is a "Viral Word Of Mouth Marketing" which helps in creating your brand and connecting with your potential customers. How about adding customer service on your page and customers leaving feedback about your service.
