Do you not have to create your account around your demographics?

That's what I heard, ie, dog owners....footballers.....fencers (VERY NICHE)

Create a myspace profile. Add friends and join groups.

Create a Facebook page. Then invite fans to join. It would also help to have your own Facebook profile and a group, and join related groups, too.

Depending on your website niche you could provide profile comment pictures if applicable. Then you provide a link below the code provided to the myspacer, this won't let with SERPs but can help bring more traffic to your site.

In addition to what everyone said, I would suggest a PPC campaign.

There are two ways of going about it. First, facebook itself has a ppc engine and your ads would display on facebook itself (left side). The second way to go would be to advertise on an app advertising network and get your message out to application users (the fastest growing segment of facebook)

I'm happy to help if you need - feel free to get in touch.

    Cheers,
    Stas
