If a person want to sell his XYZ plan for say $2.5 per month or %30 a year, then what should be its configuration ?
    How much MB ?
    How much bandwidth ?
    how about emails, databases ?

Well, that depends on you, some webhosts offer 200mb and some 100GB (overselling of course), to find out how much resource to offer, you have to count your server costs and make a price that suit you.

Try getting a few links here and there, offer a few free accounts on behalf the webmaster shows a link to your host etc then it should grow, then try to rank it in google.

talk to people you do business with locally. find out if they are happy with their web hosting. a lot of people are paying companies (like the yellow pages) big bucks for monthly hosting because they don't know any better.

I definately agree! Take a very personalised approach and go and visit small business who have websites. Ask them if they are happy, how much they pay. Whether they are open to moving to a new host if it was cheaper or had more features.

Any why not offer to help them make the transfer for free. Chances are local business are paying a small fortune for hosting, so it could be well worth it!

Really the best way to promote a webhosting service is to offer a little bit of free space 100 mb or so then when they need more charge them. You really need to look at www.000webhost.com and try to compete with them if you want to stand a chance online.

Don't offer unlimited space and bandwidth. Be unique and don't over sell like most "kiddy" hosts do these days.

I think you should also promote offline to capture your local market.

    Very good idea. :D
In my opinion flyers are the best way to promote. Distribute them in school/university in IT sector

Start doing SMS Campaign! use any SMS package to target many people in short period of time!

or Design Caps! in which encode your site logo with address it can also promote your Web Hosting Site Socially

I would create an affiliate program and give free hosting to your affiliates that get you the first 3 clients. Plus, I would pay at least 50% to your affiliates.
