I find it way easier to use Myspace as a promotion tool. Just add friends. Keep adding friends. You can put your link on the profile. You can make whatever design you want for the profile. When you have a lot of friends, you can post bulletins up to drive traffic to your site. This is very effective.
using Facebook works great too.. what you can do is create groups and pages for stuff (celebs, music, whatever) and when you're the admin you can place links all over the pages and groups.... this you can do for free, groups don't grow as virally as they once did but pages still work well... you can also create groups/pages for your products and companies too If you want to spend a bit of money, you can get a friend adder but be careful... create many accounts and you can use it to auto-spam people's walls with your affiliate links while you sleep plus it makes it easy to get friends by auto-sending friend requests too. personally, I make my money from facebook apps, but I have many friends who make a ton of money from doing affiliate marketing on facebook each month.
I don't like this type of promotion. I get better results if I use Search Engine Marketing or PPC Marketing. Use MySpace, Facebook as your secondary traffic source. Focus on SE traffic first.
not sure about facebook, but marketing through myspace is not as easier as it used to be before. you will not see much spammers on myspace as you used to see. myspace did a good job with their new captcha code on adding new friends and even for sending out comments to your existing friends. no automated options are available now which is keeping the spammers away
Through myspace a lot of times it can be spam, like getting a lot of friends then sending out a bulletin. Facebook - create a "page" for the thing you want to advertise, or advertise through them. I wouldn't go with this to start out wiht, there are better things such as SEO
in order to make money from affiliate links on facebook groups or pages you need people to come there. how do u promote them?
Thanks everyone for reply. It looks like making a scantily dressed girl profile and adding friend would work.
This method is usually very time consuming because of the capthas and I personally no longer like marketing on myspace even though it can bring in a pretty penny if done right, but like most said its all about spamming with comments and friend request.
Myspace spam and friend, comment bots in a way ruined myspace. I'm not sure what situation is nowadays, I'm haven't been using myspace recently. Facebook is nice for contacting friends and promoting events to friends, not sure if it is really efficient for serious online bisnes.
it can take a long time to build up enough friends on myspace to make a broadcast worth it--adding them one at a time is tedious and time consuming- but if you're not in a hurry....a little it everyday gets you there eventually
I have had great results using Myspace to promote. These sites are great because they make it so easy to target specific demographics of people. Connecting with people who share similar interests is essential.
I think marketing on myspace and facebook really depends on what your product and service is. Myspace is a pretty young crowd, so if you've got a product that's hot in the 18-24 set then I think you can do very well. Facebook seems a bit more, I hate to say older, but perhaps mature is more the right word, anyway I think it can be successful. Of course marketing on these sites is hard work, but then isn't anything that's really worth it. Also I'd say that you need to think of social networking as just one out of several marketing strategies that you should work on each day.
I feel that twitter is the "new" myspace. There is a lot that you can do with it, especially it's RSS feeds can get Google over to your site in a hurry.
