If I was you I would find out what keywords (phases) as I wanted to rank for in Google. Use them in your title and do social bookmarking.
More niche gives you tons of content articles to rewrite and use on your site. Could I rewrite those and submit them to article directories and get good traffic? Or would it be better to use those articles for hub pages and sites like that?

I'm sorry, but why would anyone want to read a daily blog on a weight-loss pill??? To answer your question...place ads in sites related to your blog, and get word out of mouth going. That's how successful people do it.
First of all make sure its listed in Google, then submit it to as many free search engines as possible.
