Many threads about how to promote this and that...
So this one is specifically on how to promote an online shop.
I realize most common things apply like directories, search engines, blogs, basically leaving a mark any place possible. Did that for my other project - it worked.
But wondering if there are specific hints for shops selling real goods. Link exchange doesn't seem like a good idea, since shops are competing.

My own shop is www.kamistore.com and I need to take off with it.

You can try to find some free shopping comparison sites and post a datafeed of all your products to it.

There are some good free ones around, if you have a little money however you can submit to the big ones like www.shopzilla.com. These work on a PPC basis.

    Hope this helps

I don't know much about promoting it but i know one thing, adding a payment processor or 2 will have a good effect on sales. try adding paypal or moneybookers.

Having related content on your site will help give you credibility to potential buyer and visitors.

Having an ssl certificate will also give confidence to buyer.

Develop text and articles for your buyer to read.

Make it a one stop know it all shop.

tonybogs, thank you - working on submitting.
kush86, paypal is coming as soon as I get the account verified (possibly today)
Camay123, ok, will write a couple of articles on the kind of items that I have for sale.
SSL certificate I do not really need for paypal payments - as it gets the data from the shop (price), processes it on the paypal site (actual confidential information), and returns the user to the site, so should work without.
Thanks a lot for the advices!!!
Does it make sense for me to invest into adwords for this kind of shop, or those don't really pay off? How much does one normally invest monthly? I can throw in some 1k eur, but I'd rather distribute this money more efficiently.
