How to promote new Directory ??

Plz suggest me how to prmote new directory.

What i m try ........ ::

1. directory anouncement in diffrent webmaster forums
and
2. submitting in other directories.

But now i m looking for more methods and plz tell me if u have directory of directory or any site like directory critic / directory roll

That's a start. I'd also do some dofollow blog commenting. And may create some sort of contest to boost your traffic and people's interest.

Since you posted in the SEO forum you might be looking for SEO methods. First you need to do some in-depth keyword research into what are the best terms for your specific niche.

 

I think you can submit to other directories under "directories" category. Also directory announcement in forums will also helps.

u may consider submitting to directorycritic where lot of directory owners go to. lot of professional directory submitters collect their directory list form there as well so you may end up being on few regular submitter's list which will give you lot of submissions. in terms of seo, you need to have an seo friendly directory script which you need to customize. make sure all the URLs are seo friendly and have something like www.somedirectory.com/arts rahther than www.somedirectory.com/category1 or something. use proper keyword rich title and description (available on seo friendly directory scripts like phpld) and add some text content to each category/sub-category pages. then the rest is pure link building

 

You should also submit to directory lists and directories of directories. Blog comments and article submissions can get you a lot of backlinks as well.

Do the regular of submitting to other directories, article submissions, etc. Remember that with a directory these days a large emphasis is placed on TRUST. This means that search engines look at how long your directory has been around, what places are linking to you that have been around for awhile, etc. It is basically saying these people don't spam and are building a quality website instead of just mass do-follow blog comments etc.

Yup! Agreed! DoFollow will buzz more attention, especially if you told your visitors something about *.EDU Blogs That DoFollow on your directory or blog as a free or paid service's.
