    Hi fellow DP'ers,

My wife and I are working on a few sites as a hobby (see my signature). I'd like to get some advice on marketing them. Any suggestion on how to improve them are also welcome.

    Tom:)

Any of the above method will greatly improve and generate us some decent traffics, and probably will help on monetization too.

Adding one more to the list.

    11. On Page SEO.

You could optimize your pages for search engines and that gives you the huge traffic. Do a quick keyword research with Google adwords tool and find out high traffic & less/moderate competition keywords. Optimize your page to use those keywords on titles and around the content at the right ratio (don't dump the page with full of keywords). You will see big results in few weeks.

    most effective:
    1. Social Bookmarking (using your niche market keyword)
    2. Article marketing (using your niche market keyword)
    3. Press Release (using your niche market keyword)

all points above is basically increasing our website PR. once the PR is increased and more traffics coming to your site, your website will be brought to google at higher position. Once your websites at higher position at google, you will get more traffics. ;)

oh yeah, one more tip from me, put google-analytics or other traffic analyzer on your web server. you will know from what keyword the traffics or people coming from.

    good luck...

While I agree to some degree... concentrate on your serps and not the pr. A pr4 doesn't mean you'll get great traffic. Been there and done that to be sadly disappointed. How you rank for your keywords will make the difference in the traffic you receive. Your PR is in my opinion a bonus and gives your site some credibility to a degree in google's eyes but you backlink strategy as most will tell you makes the most difference.
