How to promote my site - get traffic and more visitors

Hi, I'm new into webmastering. My site: http://www.desktoplook.com/ - it's a blog-a-like site with stuff to customize desktop. Adding new content isn't a problem for me but I have no idea how to get new visitors there. I have bought 1000 visitors traffic recently.

Maybe you have got any good ideas?

Please help me and sorry for my poor english.

One tip on what NOT to do: Don't buy traffic. It's worthless.

 

Here are a few ideas on promoting your site...

- Optimize your website for a particular keyword or search phrase.
- Write and submit articles to the various article directories.
- Make relevant posts in forums and have a link to your site in your signature.
- Write a press release about your site and submit it to PRWeb.com.
- Advertise your site in the appropriate category on CraigsList.com.
- Give a testimonial on a product that you have used in exchange for a backlink to your site.
- Leave relevant comments on various blogs with a backlink to your site.
- Answer people’s questions on answers.yahoo.com.
- Start a blog and submit it to free blog directories.

 

I agree, these tips should get you started.
