How to promote my gaming forum?

I recently purchased gaming forum www.gamerbb.net
Any ideas how to market this? Apart from a good SEO (SEO experts PM me your offers) what are the other methods? How to stand out from crowd? How to get new users there and when I do how to make them register? Also I want to replace the first sections with "Recent news" on the homepage, any ideas with what? Chatbox? Some competition results? Its the first thing users see so what should I put there that will make them register and stay? Thanks for any tips

 

Great looking forum.. well there are tons of ways to promote it. Since a lot of gamers frequent Social sites, you can try social marketing such as twitter, FB fan pages, youtube video marketing etc. Try to offer some gaming related freebie and post it on other forums and freebie sites and people will flock to your site in droves. You can also do PPC and media buys and advertise your site through banners and text links in tech and gaming sites.

On top of that, you should organise competition and use social media to get players go on your forum.

1.Choose a game like Unreal Tournament or anything else.
2.Organise a paying competition (Rules, price for one ticket entry, split revenu with the winner of the competition)
3. When you will have a lot of players on your forum, you will be able to roll a competition every week

Let's say you got 20 players paying $5 = $100 , split this with the winner and he will be happy to play and get paid for it. (Same if you only give him $50, the geek will be happy)

Now use social media or anything else to promote your forum doing competitions.

You can put to signature in forums , it is good way of promotion

 

i can tell you best option is use PPC method to promote your website.it is very easy to get popular in the world if you have enough money to advertise.

There lot of PPC sites like Adwords,Adcenter,Yahoo ..ect.

 

I don't think PPC for a gaming forum is a good idea and neccessary.

I want to do competitions but the question is how to organize them? I dont know how to make videogame competition unless all players are in the same room.

 

if you have money then try to start an affiliate marketing program. people will send visitors to your site and if the visitors join your forum then you will pay for each visitors.

Try to advertise it in your signature spot in other gaming related forums

 

Another thing might be to contact a game developer and do a review on you site with video clips of an upcoming game or just take an existing game create a f2p account on an mmo and take some screenshots and review that on a popular game.

Tie that in with a press release and youtube etc etc.

The forum looks fine I'll go back there though and poke around specific forum.
