I've started my forum which is called http://www.exchangebookmark.com/ Its a forum for exchanging, buying and selling bookmarks and related services. I've made this forum invitation only so that it can be exclusive and can be used by interested people only. How can I promote this forum in order to reach to the people who want to get their sites bookmarked in exchange of bookmarks or forum cash and those people who really want to earn few bucks for bookmarking.
Forums like this will be a while to grow if its by invite only. Start off with a few friends and i also advise u putting notice in local libaries if they allow it or send letters to local book clubs. it will hopefully go well for you.

I would promote it on internet marketing forums (like this one) and the warriors forum. I would also make a post on the information ninja forum (it is currently closed due to spam, but expect it to open soon). Write articles and link to your forum. Issue a press release announcing your new forum. This will generate alot of interest, backlinks, and traffic. Write a ebook on bookmarking, and upload it to free ebook directories, and give it away on your sites.
You can promote it by holding contests and advertising on internet marketing forums. Some of them also have a section where you can promote your website, e.g. this one and vuju.com.

Some forums pay 5 cents per post.But I think that is only good solution if is webmaster forum. Almost all ordinary visitors need infos and help on forums !
Paid posting is good for any kind of form because when guests come to a forum that looks active and has a good post count, they are more likely to register and post themselves.
Promoting forums is tough... Are there a lot of other forums online that compete with you, or do you have something fairly unique? Might be worth buying a few blog reviews on blogs that get the type of traffic you are looking for. It's worth a shot!

Most webmaster sites have those services. You said that it is only for invitation, how do you think it would grow. Don't go spamming others or you would regret it.
Promoting forums are like promoting affiliate links, hope for the best, and hope your gains are worth it...just about anything these days is tough to promote, and for one..have low expectations...because if you start off thinking you will have 1000 visitors a day, you will be disapointed real quick...expect a lot of time to go by, it takes time to build anything, work on the forum, work on the design, keep working on the forum, keep promoting, and repeat the cycle about 10,000 times. I am working on my forum, and i expect my new design to be very expensive since I am not a forum designer...one post said, people do not like an empty forum, they are right, they do not like the default design also, that just shows that you can not afford a good one...running a forum is not easy nor can it be cheap if you want a good one. btw, having a closed forum is like having a closed casket...your dead
I would join as many webmaster forums as you can and talk about your website. You should also add your link on your signature as you are already doing.
