I think that you will have to promote in amongst all the directories that are in that niche sector to show that you are a serious newcomer, after you have made your mark, bids will follow :)

You have to promote it through buying sitewides, buying signature spots, buying regular and featured listings at well known directories etc.

Yes the Don is correct. Since most Top Bidders now look at the backlinks and see who promotes and who's not promoting. A couple of top bidders said before they throw some big bucks away they need to see some real promotion.

The secret behind being succesful with directories (general/niche/bid) is to give aways $$$ to get $$$. Invest heavily --earn heavily. Keep only 20% as profit.:)

But you have to spend first before you get returns.:) Otherwise you may bid on an established bid directory to take it over. But I don't think that will be wise as most serious bidders might have bought links there:D

Well it seems that --first one has to open a bid directory --then promote it stealthly and upon PR update --declare it and get the Mollah --flowing:p Let me ponder over this idea --for the next PR update -need to think very hard as it will need lots of investment and if..... then I am GONE With The Wind. On the other hand if I have good PR then  :p
