You should do some offline advertising at the local colleges, universities and schools etc, plus in online marketing you should contact local bloggers and ask them to give an honest review of your software on their blogs, give them a copy of that software to test first. Also post in forums pertaining to education, and post in student forums, and build a Facebook page around your software promoting it at the social site.
you should use your social network and participate some internet marketing such as : Linked, Twitter, Forums, Blogs to promote your products or if U dont have free time to set up those global connection you can pay google for ranking your products. But I am not sure how much money it will takes from you.
You can promote it on groups, there are many school and college groups on all social networking site. Join them and use your mind to promote it effectively. You can give some free cd's of your software to schools, colleges.
