If that is the case then they must be having nice capital to invest. DO get a really nice website template DO arrange for a really very helpful customer service Do some article marketing and article distribution Display peoples reviews in your website in a very prominent place And of course promote your website in your stores Leave the website URL on the jwellery box Give some small gifts to people with the website URL printed. I agree with all here and would use stuff like open source "livehelp" so that you can chat with customers online and discuss their needs.. I think it would be a push to get someone to buy wedding rings , for example from an online site , but customer service ( as all guys above mentioned) is a big plus !
What is your brother's biggest advantage relative to other stores? Best customer service? Unique jewelery? Fast shipping? Figure out an angle where his is the absolute best and promote that angle. There are too many diamond websites out there to compete on all points -- just pick the best angle and use that.
