yes certainly exchange the links with the same or similar niche blogs... this will give you nice output and also try to submit your blog post to social bookmarking sites it will help you much.

For more information about this - you can see my blog the link is present in my signature.

    Hope it helps..

Write good quality content. Put social bookmarking widgets on your blog so that your readers can bookmark your articles.

Read and comment on other blogs with similar theme to earn a reputation in 'blogosphere' :) Your blog will automatically be popular.

Unique content updated at least weekly, submission to the three main search engines, sitemap for your blog, blog posting on other relative blogs, blog carnivals.

    There are loads.

When it comes to a blog you should know that the search engines naturally require you to generate fresh content because the nature of the blog is to inform of the lastest and greatest news.

    1) Generate fresh content at minimum every few days but every day is better in the beginning.

    2) Hang out in other peoples blog or forums that have similiar type blogs and contribute to their topics as to kind of buddy up with them. doing this is good because links are deemed extremly high in the search engines and getting a one way link to your site from another site that has a similiar interest w/o you having to link back tells the search engines that your site is more important.

    3) If your using Google's Blogger then you should do some minor teaking to get your SEO format correct. It is pretty much already SEO correct but a little tweaking can help you climb in the search engines. Ranking = traffic.

    4) Ping after each new post. Pinging sends a message to the spiders to come crawl your site and helps get your content indexed faster. If you are using a Word Press site then you can find a word press ping application that you can intergrate right into your site so everytime you post a new submission it auto pings for you. If your using Google's Blogger then you have to do this manually after each post. I happen to use Blogger and after each new post I visit these ping directories to ping my blog post.
    1- Ping-o-matic
    2- Pingoat.com
    3- Feedshark.com

    5) Another quick method to get some fast traffic is to use the good old bum marketing techniques. Create a post in your blog and then copy/paste that into a word doc or notepad. Re-word your content by replacing your nouns with similiar type words but leaving in your main keyword phrases and submit the article to free article submission sites. The reason you re-word your article is to prevent duplication content. To get a good amount of free links you can embed your link to your site by creating a hyperlink in a word in the first sentence of the paragraph the middle and the last paragraph. Also include your link into the author bios box. The reason for the embedded link is so that when people steal your article to put on their site to use as their own alot of times they don't even bother with the thing and just post it on their site. They give you a one way link to your site and they get penalized for duplicate content so they get dropped in the rankings. See it's different from your blog post so it doesn't effect your ranking. It only helps you.

These tactics should get you some quick buzz and have the flood gates at your fingertips.. Best of luck..
