First and foremost i would say content, same rule applies as with any good website "Content is king". If it's interesting, informative and useful it will appeal to the target audience. With extensive content comes greater potential for keyphrases, main and long tail phrases. Possibly add links for the top 4 or 5 social bookmarking sites like facebook, reddit, StumbleUpon etc so people can bookmark and vote for your blog site. This along with great content will hopefully start to produce inbound links, visitors and ranking.
I would suggest you to leave comments on blogs that are talking about the same thing too, well, of cos that's shawls and scarves for your case. Join some forums and put up your website in your sig links.
