Hey folks, I have some articles on my site. I would like to promote these articles in order to generate some backlinks..

Where/how would I begin this process..

Do I just submit the articles to article directories?

You can submit them to article directories but then you will have the same content as everyone that publishes it. I have done this and it works for getting the backlinks, but I am not sure if this may hurt your own site because of the content shared. Now I prefer to submit articles that I do not use on my own sites to generate back links to my site. They don't even have to be as good as the articles published on your own sites.

I just started submitting articles to article directories, and I have only submitted articles that I have wrote for that purpose. This way the content that you have to offer can only be seen on your site. You don't really want the articles you have on your site to be seen by everyone on someone else's sites.

A good idea would be to submit the article to as many directories as you can. The more you do, the more links you will get.

    Hey,

I've heard that submitting your articles to Too many directories can actually hurt your ranking on google because spamming or duplicate content. What I know it's better to submit to the top 4-5 directories but I'm no pro so I don't really know about this... it's just what I've heard.

    Enjoy!

Submitting articles to web directories where you consider submitting your website to is a good strategy (if those directories have article submission option of course)

    Good luck!

I wish I did have experience with it. There is not enough time for me to do everything for that on my own. I have articles in about 10 different directories, and everything is going fine for me. I haven't seen any decrease in anything.

Why not rewrite the first half of the article and use it as a lure to actually attract visitors along with getting the backlinks.

You also avoid the duplicate content issue altogether but are not giving the article directories the complete article which remains on your site only. People reading the article on the article site is suitably enticed to visit your site to get the rest of the information they were looking for.

    Just a thought

One of the most effective ways to promote articles on your site is to create an RSS feed and ping that feed into several RSS networks. There is a nice free creator here for personal use up to 10 articles: http://www.mirabyte.com/en/products/feedwriter/features.html

To ping it try an RSS pinger like RSS Announcer which probably can be found in the buy/sell/trade section here.

    Best of Luck ;)

    1. Yes you can submit them for article directories. (Better, if you can rewrite the articles before submitting to each directories and get backlinks from there)

    2. Participate in niche related forums

    3. Do comment on niche related blogs

These will bring you more backlinks + traffic
