    Twitter is nowadays very hot, search on webmaster related blogs, Twitter itself and for sure you will get ideas how to promote. Blogs are full with Twitter stuff...

    Depends on what type of products you are promoting. Say for instance if you were promoting a weight loss supplement you would want to build a review site and compare it to 2 or 3 other products with details about each product and ranking each product..
