We have a very unique website but are having a hard time promoting it. It combines social networking with online treasure hunts. Basic idea of the site is first user to solve the online treasure hunt wins the cash prize. Things we have going for the site are: 1. Its free to play 2. win cash prizes We even have a referral system in place where any user you refer you get 5% of any cash prize that user ever wins. The problem however is so far we have not had that many users join. Granted we are still very new but expected a slightly better initial response. Which means at this point we are giving away real cash prizes to only a small pool of users. We have tried PPC ads, however we are getting a low conversion rate. Could someone review the site and see what we are doing wrong? Why such a low conversion rate for a site that is free an giving away money? Also, any thoughts on why our referral program may be lacking? Maybe our home page is scarring away potential users?
