How to Promote A New Social Networking Site

    I have created a new social networking site (microblogging) called Verpri [http://www.verpri.com]. The feature list is on https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/verpri-com-new-social-networking-site-coming-soon-in-august.2670166/ But the main draw of my website is its user base. And if a social networking site has no user base, then ... That's the sort of problem I'm having now. How can I promote this site? How can I get people to sign up?

    I agree. Existing social network sites like Facebook and Twitter are the way to go. Also try to find other sites, forums, groups, etc. where people are interested about blogging.

    I'm trying to figure out the same thing for feedthearts.com. I'm taking a Content Marketing approach to it: starting a blog, trading content with other bloggers, and increasing PR and SEO by getting lots of good inbound links (mostly by commenting on blogs and such).

    But I agree that social networks are definitely the way to go. Just figure out who your target audience is and find the social network they use (for example, teens are abandoning Facebook for Twitter and SnapChat).

    Nowadays it's impossible to get viral with a new social network. Facebook, Twitter, GPlus, Instagram (facebook), LinkedIn are at the top. And then you have MySpace and Pinterest.
