    Hi all,

Need your advice here. I helped a friend build this new online forum site:

    Opponion - Opposite Opinion

The forum is about debates on all issues. For just about any topic, we can easily find opposite opinions. I thought the idea for the site is clever and solid, but neither he nor I have any experience building and promoting forums. He is thinking about hiring people to write some good stuff to attract people, but not sure how to get the words out.

What is your experience? Many thanks in advance for your help!

    Terry

The usual marketting methods that are mentioned here are, register a few usernames your self and post good relevant content, hire posters to post at your forum (some say this doesnt work some say it does). Start a competition to bring in users etc....

There more but i cannot remember.

The key is having a solid group of active members that post topics worthy of interest.

The list from Railway is great for getting traffic - but the problem with a new forum is that unless there is a critical mass of activity, when visitors arrive the majority will simply move on without posting.

To get some momentum try -

    1. Friends, family to get you started
    2. 1-on-1 invitations
    3. Simply ask/invite in another forum?
