hi all! I'm pretty new to here so maybe wrong section (sorry about that) i own a music community site (http://bandwars.org) which is pretty unique. My problem is that I really dont know much about advertising these kind of sites. I have bought the myspace friend adder script and had some success with inviting some bands to my site but I want something more effective. Any suggestions?
You can try Music blogs, Music forums and put your signature links. Start a blog and write some blogposts on music, start digging, social bookmarking, squidoo etc. You can write good articles and submit them to article directories. Write Press release on your website and submit them to PR sites. Go to Soundclick and make a community. There are other musical communities that you can try out. It will definetely work. Good luck
To be honest these type of websites are very hard to start with a budget of under 100k. There are so many websites out there like it that unless you go with a more specified niche its hard to really get it promoted enough to take off. I would go genre specific if I were you it would be easier.
Like primeelite said, i would start with a small niche and work your way up. You might want to look into starting in a regional area. Maybe if you live in a medium sized town you could start there and slowly add new cities.
You should doing some press release to create buzz about your website Further more,you must organize some event to attract more band to join your website
