How to Promote a Music Artist? (Electronic Genre)

I have a very talented friend, who is much into electronic music. He composes his tracks all by his own in a home studio and he has a lot of good works, so I think he deserves to be heard world wide.

    Here is his myspace profile:

(Hear the tracks in the red player if interested, some nice pieces of electro music.)

I guess I will be joining him with some guitar elements in his music so I want to help him promote his music on the internet, but I'm not really sure how and where.

I thought of some ways to do it, like building him a personal website, upload some tracks at youtube, last.fm and such sites, but I would like to hear some first hand experience and some good schemes for this.

Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Put together a press release, bio, and offer a free track or two for download, and I'll start you off with some press.

    Send it to editor@124bpms.com

Tracks on You Tube would also be a good move.

As suggested by Hmansfield, provide one or two free tracks to download in video submission and Audio sites. Promoting the Free video tracks would be succeed in the Networks. So, better promote the same in popular networks like Face Book, Linked In, Myspace, etc to reach maximum number of online visitors and expose the expertise accordingly. In addition to this, if you would like to make him popular through website, perform ethical link building to rank the website for targeted keywords in search engines.

Get on Twitter an Facebook and start spreading the word to all your friends and family you can find after you have a basic site up and running. Add a newsletter and give people free downloads if they sign up for the newsletter. Then you are building an email list you can email anytime you have a new release for sale.

Go straight away to You tube. Make a video and put it on You tube.

Do demo CD's and hand them out at parties. I would also join electronic music forums and let the members know you produce music and to let you know what they think.
