How to promote a free rental classifieds site?

I'm wondering how you guys would go about promoting a free rental classifieds site... with investing little or no money.

Any thoughts on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Think a bit.

Digg: Submit something tech related that is available for rent.

MySpace: Open/join a rent group

And submit a press release. etc.

 

Submit your website to directories and make some link exchanges with other related websites

 

When I say Rental site, I mean residential rentals... Apartments, houses etc...

Nope. Think Craigslist or other free classifieds. Now think focus on residential rentals.

Craigslist itself might be a good place to advertise on. Or find some discussion groups where people talk about buying property that they plan on renting out, and discreetly promote your service.

For example - you could use the moneycentral boards like this one

to participate in discussions about finding rentals - or advertising rentals.
