How to promote a forum and what to expect?

I started a forum a few weeks ago:

    RecipesForum.com

My goal is to get to $25 / day using adsense or YPN.

I don't think I'll make much money off of the regular visitors. My hope is to make money from SE traffic to recipes posted on the forum.

I didn't put any adsense there yet as traffic is pretty low at the moment (~50 uniques a day).

I'm not too worried about getting more posters, that's taken care of. I just want to get good SE traffic (currently getting about 10 visitors a day mostly from google). So how do I go from 10 visitors a day to 1,000?

    1. Submit your site to more directories
    2. Buy backlinks
    3. Check your keywords
    4. Repeat 1,2,3, Steps

    .. Forever?

Heh, seriously, do you ever stop promoting or is it a neverending process for you?

    P.S.

Sorry for the double post. I posted the same message on the google forum by accident.

1: Join other message boards, make relevant posts, don't spam - have a link to your forum in a site.
2: Buy banner ads on related sites.
3: Build up backlinks like SEO Guru said.
4: Try to get blogs to release press releases about your forum.

I believe you can contact a blog owner, and ask them if they'd release a blog post about your forum in exchange for a link back or something.

I find adding a blog section to your site so that your members can have one when they join the forum is also a good way of getting members, I do this on my forum.

The other reason this is good is because it adds content to your website, and the more content the better chance you will get ranked for different keywords and search terms

    I have written this

    http://www.mkpitstop.co.uk/?q=node/52

on how to get more traffic to your website, and as traffic helps to get members. please note that isnt the only way to get traffic :)
