How to promote a contest.

Hi,

I have conduct a contest on internet. This is a simple contest about a Songwriter. A simple question will be asked and user will have to answer it. And with lucky draw we will choose Winners.

I am new to such type of things. Should I limit the contest to India only or should it be worldwide? (Contest is about foreign songwriter)

How can I attract more and more users to participate. (Will social bookmarking be sufficient?)

As I am from India. What will be the best method to send gifts to foreign countries?

What strategy should I make?

If you have conducted contest before please help me and share your experiences.

Purpose: increase sale of his albums

I want to join more and more people to this contest. This contest is for 3rd party. And they will keep their eyes on me(i.e. the user database). If I conduct this contest successfully then I may get more work and may generate more profit.

How can I attract more and more people to participate on this contest?

 

1. Announce your contest on your website index page, major traffic pages or even All pages of your website if you can manage that with ease. The point here is that if a visitor visits a certain page of your website through a link from a search engine or from another website, he/she should not leave the website without any clue of the contest being held.

2. Announce your contest to your lists, newsletters or ezines, if you have any.

3. Announce your contests on networking forums and newsgroups in appropriate places. Please take care not to spam.

4. Update your email signature and add a one-line description and a link to your contest page.

5. Post your contest details on the following contest sites. You can post on all these sites for free, but for just a few more dollars, you can consider a paid listing which will multiply the visibility of your ad and thus, the traffic generated.

Hi, guy, I suggest you use a email marketing software to promote your Contest, such as Resonablespread or InContact...But note that don't make spam.

Should I place some advertisement (To make some money) on contest page.

 

may be you are advertising in wrong places. your main target should be reaching out targeted audience.

 

Facebook and social networks are great for a contest. Also use email marketing.

Announce it on TARGETED forums about that subject.
Ask current participants.
Always ask your participants how to improve.
