I am using the able theme http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/able/ When I add a new page, the page title will appear in the top navigation menu (e.g. top menu Home|A Parent Page|HTML Element as seen in http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/able/) , how can I prevent the page title from appearing in the top menu? Thanks a lot.
I looked at their example blog: http://warmhotchocolate.com/2012/08/10/a-back-to-school-diy-and-a-few-favorites/ and couldn't see what you are referring to. Could you give us a link or a screenshot. You're not talking about the title in the tab on the browser are you?
I am talking about the top navigation bar Home About Crafts Design & Decor Parties & Food Photography & Travel
For example if I created a page [July promotion]. I do not want the title [July promotion] to appear in the top navigation bar and anywhere in the blog.
That won't be a theme issue. Give the page a parent page and it'll appear in the drop down menu. There is probably a quick edit setting to remove it from the menu altogether - years since I logged into wordpress.com though so you may have to dig around. Won't be the theme though.
Create custom menu from wp admin dashboard. ( Appearance => Menus ) And make it as primary navigation.
For a new website, add a new page will automatically add to the menu bar. Unless, you make or create a new custom page from the menu. It can be a primary menu, secondary menu or footer menu depends on the themes designed. Have a great day!
Login to your WP-Dashboard, click the "menus" on Appearance, create new menu, make your owe menu name, let's say home and checked "Top Primary Menu". Use the same step for creating a secondary menu... Once you have created your own menu, you can select what page to put in the navigation menu, be it Home menu or Secondary menu.
