How to prevent fraud clicks ?

Discussion in 'Reporting & Stats' started by Tuning, Dec 13, 2004.

It has become a nighmare of getting fraud clicks on one of my popular sites.
It is that there are lots of competetors on the same business ;) . For the past two weeks I'm getting about 1000s of fraud clicks. I have always reported to google when it happens. But I'm wondering what other webmasters do on this kinda situation. Also I would like to know how the fraud's IP can be identified.

Any comments appreciated. ;) TIA. :)

    Thanks dejaone!

But I think i cannot afford the mentioned site right now. Also I wish I could find out myself rather than from third party resources.

Which site/industry are you in that is having the problem?

I wouldn't worry about it from an ADSENSE point of view. If you aren't committing the clicks, then let google take care of it.

Now, if you're talking about ADWORDS and you're getting 1000s of clicks but no conversions, then that's something you should take up with google immediately.

There is no permanet answer for that. just monitor your traffic carefully and act as fast as you can. If you need to remove the adsense code temporarily I suggest do so.

Its visible from number of clicks. Also CTR is high.

btw, can anyone tell to findout the suspicious IP from raw logs ?

Can't understand why people do this? If it's a competitive market, he is just busy with clicking ads?

    My method for dealing with things of that nature and others is to use the command;
    /sbin/route add -host <offending ip> reject

Makes life a lot easier :D

for the last days some people from india keep clicking my ads like crazy and that cost so much money every day without making any sales , i was making more sales before when i used in the beggining oinly yahoo sponsored ads after i started with google no sales and only few fraud sales.

here is my conversion of clicks from google for the last 3 days :
    google adwords
    Dec 6 : clicks 677 - cost $56.26 no sales
Dec 7 : clicks 910 - cost $65.92 no sales one fraud sale from india
Dec 8 : clicks 1,621 - cost $120.03 2 sales to the same guy from states
tosay so far dec 9 clicks 794 - cost $59.02 no sales so far

and those clicks the most of them are made from india ips as i can see on stats.com

i use also yahoo sponsored ads with no problems at all , everything running smooth not so many clicks not so high cost and the clciks looks legit .

if anyone had the same problem before i will appreciate some tips in order to eliminate this problem i already block india destination from my ads but ive seen that stats. com show some ips with the coimment unknown ip and when i try to trace the ip i find was from india .

so either if i block india destination from my ads they still can use different ways around to click .

    all the best

    George

What do you sell? How does your sales page look like? Your conversion rates are poor. You get up to 1000 clicks and no sales...
