Hi all, I've been creating and developing a website for quite some time now. I have written tons of pages on the design and operations of this website and I had it outsourced to a reputable company in India to have all the programming and design work done. My question is...how do I protect my website and the design so this company doesn't sell it off as a template? Even though they're reputable, you never know...is there something I can have them sign advising that I own full rights to the design and that it can't be resold? Anything legal I can have written up and signed maybe prior to them delivering the completed project to me? I'm very serious about this site and business and I don't want people copying it. Thanks
Depends where you are, if you are not in India you are going to have a hard time forcing them to do anything. Litigation from the US to India takes many years and costs a lot of money, I believe the average time was >6 years according to a college textbook I had. The bottom line is that if you don't trust them and can not sue them, don't do business with them. This is why I advise people to keep business in their country when possible, and to flat out stay away from India.
Could not agree more on this comment. If you dont have any leg breaker contacts in india then you are not going to get any satisfaction when they screw you over.

u can't really , inn net nothing is secured , i make designs of vbulletin skins , and every second day it is ripped by someone or the other
