How to post an animated gif in Wordpress?

I uploaded it like an image and then drag and dropped it into the post but it doesn't work. I have had issues posting images in general, I have to change them to bitmaps in order to be able to resize them, but I am not sure that has anything to do with it.

You can post an animated gif as you would post any gif image. No problem with that, but there exists no animated bmp file. When you convert to bmp, you convert to a static image at the same time.

I tried to post it without converting it but I just got a blank space. I have been able to post gif and jpg before but have not been able to resize them like I have been able to with bitmaps.

 

What software are you using to resize them. If you open up an animated gif in some software you loose animation.

 

I am not resizing, just trying to post what I did "save as" as.
