    It doesn't take much to throw together a quick website.
    Why do you not want to put any content up?

    Make an awesome / out of the world Coming Soon page and put it up. Then start advertising. Also create a Pre Launch Sign Up form ( Maybe use MailChimp ), so you can create a Email subscribers list. Once you launch, send out a launch newsletter.

    Why would you ever spend any resources to "popularize" a domain name before there's a site on it lol. Unless your just trying to earn cash from parking, you'll just be losing traffic to the similar sites those visitors would be looking for. Their initial visit would translate into them thinking nothing is there... cause nothing is lol. I guess you could develop out the brand on another open source site, and direct the traffic from there once the site is developed. But @Byte has the idea...
