So I just created my blog: http://www.oshishtech.com and I dont quite know how to place affiliate links or adsense on my blog.

Can someone please elaborate on how to do this :)

Also if you can tell me where to put the ads and adsense that would be great as well.

    Hi John,

I'm not sure this is exactly the right forum for your question, as I haven't hung out on DP enough myself, but I do have an answer for you, so here goes...

There is a plugin for Wordpress called Adsense-Deluxe that we use that works quite well. What's nice is that you can somewhat centrally manage/edit your Adsense blocks within the plugin itself without having to keep going into your posts or your theme to modify them.

As for best spot, that's a bit of a judgement call. It's obviously very popular to place a rectangular Adsense block right at the top of your articles/posts and let the text flow around it. On the other hand, placing them in the middle or at the end are also options. In concert with those, you may also place some skyscraper blocks in your sidebars.

As with anything, try not to go overboard with Adsense (or even other ads), and do take some time to read the Google TOS so you don't get into trouble! Don't go losing your account over ignorance.

    Good luck!

    _KJH

    Ok, thanks you guys!

I just spent 1 and a half hours trying to figure out how to replace the header. It was my first time so I guess practice makes perfect.

Let's see how long it takes to insert affiliate ads and get that adsense perfectly set. I just applied for adsense so hopefully I'll get in to the program in a couple days.

I do have to take issue with @chandan's comment about the sidebar. Sidebar doesn't have to contain ads at all. Sure, it's common, but it's really up to you. There are quite a few bloggers out there who do well enough to have very 'clean' themes with very few, but well chosen, ads.

    Just my $0.02.

Option 1: Manually modify the theme
    Option 2: AdSense Manager

You could use a plugin as KJH said.

Some themes come with inbuilt 125*125 ad blocks on the sidebar, so you could use those for promoting your affiliate links. Do a search for Adsense ready wordpress themes, you'll find plenty of them around.

Thanks for the input guys! I'm going try out that plugin. I already put some links on the sidebar but I don't know how to put some space between each ad. I'm waiting to get approved by adsense right now. I really don't know if my theme is for ads. I already got a headed and everything for this theme :( I don't if I should change it or not. What do you guys think?

I used to use Adsense Deluxe but I now use WP Ads which you can use to put banners or adsense or your own text ads just about anywhere you like on your Wordpress site. What I like about it is that you can rotate different ads in a chosen zone to see how they work.

I ended up putting the adsense manually because adsense deluxe wasn't working. Well it worked out and looks pretty good. What do you guys think?

You could go to your account and from then look for the design tab and then you can add some affiliate or adesene to your blog.

That's exactly what I had to do because adsense deluxe was having some problems.
