You build them up and get free cheese at the end of the year. Seriously, it gives you a response time from your pc (or from wherever you ping) to the server. The lower the better. IMO 120ms is about average (for a good server from the UK to US) although it should be more like 20ms if you're within a few hundred miles. I may be wrong but those are my findings.
The reson for it is to find out if it is seing that site or pc so that you know you can connect and are connected to it why do you say what i say repetivly. i have said it and you dont need to flood the forum with this. If you want to get your posts up please do it somewhere else, Because people ask for an answer not 10000 answers. neways no point arguing and the person has there info now so close topic
Erm, have you heard of the phrase 'mini-mod', and 'don't' sorry if I have offended the mighty wayne, but other people had answered with the same solution before you and i had, I answered in the shortest amount of words too! And I did this just once so i'm hardly flooding the forum, and no this no point agruing because you're the only person whose mind it has even crossed :S maybe try letting go of some of yoir inner stress in the new year merry xmas.
yehh sorry man. Just i know losts of people including me that get anoyed with the same reply over and over, and is very anoying to read the posts over and over.
old topic I know but very useful. are there any disadvantage if you use several websites to ping the same blog? Also what is really the point of pinging your blog, what does it achieve using sites such as pingomatic.com Thanks
BTW easy method is to ping from Run > CMD > ping yoursite.com But if you want to ping from a remote location, then try www.Ping.eu
Yes, pingomatic.com is great, I am using it, as well as www.Ping.eu too helpful However, as some one suggested here, I have tried, Windows + R type: cmd ping http://google.com That did not work for me...
pinging is useful to check a website/server/remote system if UP or Down example: if you have ip address of your friend and want to see if his Computer is On, simply ping the ip.
Hello, These are also good ping websites: http://autopinger.com/ http://www.feedping.com http://pingomatic.com http://pingmyblog.com/
In simple words, pinging is nothing but informing the search engines of an update having been done at your blog/site, so that they can suitably index the same! Pinging too often about the same site from several pinging services would be looked upon as spammy..imo Regards, RightMan
Can anyone help me out with a question I have? I want to know if there is a specific number of times that you should ping your blog or website. For example, should I ping every article that I have posted on my website or just ping the website url? If I ping too much, can that hurt me rather than help me? Thanks Everyone!
You are supposed to ping when your blog has been updated with new content. If your blog is wordpress based, then that is automatic as wordpress has a built-in pinging system.
